But if you want to do it, just take the first step.

- Don’t drink any kind of caffeine or alcohol before your tattoo session, as it may lead to more bleeding because of its blood-thinning tendencies. Alcohol on the same day may cause interruption, which may cause not such a desirable result in the end. If you are going for a drink the night before, it can be a disaster for you, as the headache will be an addition to your pain during the tattoo session.
- You should avoid taking any kind of medicines like aspirin that have a blood-thinning tendency to avoid excessive bleeding.
Things to Do
- Drink a sufficient amount of water and plenty of healthy food before the session. Believe me; your body needs that energy at that time. If you want to make the session less painful, just do it because your body will lose some blood, and you will be in a tense position for a long.
- If you are too afraid to go for it. Then ask for numbing spray or maybe a numbing cream from your tattoo artist. Although they will not make the pain vanish just like that, it will minimize it for sure. A numbing formula works on your skin’s upper layer, but the ink deposit happens on a deeper layer of your skin. On top of that, they are not so safe for you as well. You can consult with your tattoo artist beforehand; for some, it can lessen the pain to a great extent.
- Having a good sleep the night before will help you bear the pain a little more effortlessly.
- Wear breathable and loss-fitting clothes while going for the tattoo session. A loose cloth will help you avoid sticking on your freshly tattooed skin, and additionally, you can easily open the area you want to have a tattoo.
- Never travel with a bare tattoo that is freshly done. You should always cover your tattoo with some kind of bandage or wrap it with something before heading out. Even if your tattoo artist has forgotten to put something, you should remember it on your own.
- You can ask for some medicines from your tattoo artist or parlor if you are too afraid to go for it but want it badly at the same time. They may or may not suggest one. Still, it is better to ask.
- Choose the right place for doing the tattoo. It can change the level of pain tremendously. Some regions are prone to more pain than others. You can choose an area where you have sufficient fat, muscle, or skin. You can just consult with the artist or dig into some research on the internet before choosing the perfect place for your first tattoo.
